Dear Self,
You are not a Vegan. You are not a Vegan. You are not a Vegan. I know you got this new book, and the recipes are all "fantastic", but seriously. . . .YOU EAT MEAT.
Love,

The Royal Wedding - Live Blog
![]() |
| My Royal Wedding |
I'm biting off Mom-A-Million.
This is my first ever 4 am live blog. Maybe only live blog ever.
4:13 - oooh. ooooh. ooh. William and Harry arriving in the car.
4:18 - I feel under dressed. I should have purchased new PJs or something. A new hat may have been too much. Wills and Harry look very handsome and charming.
4:19 - Wills just grabbed his neck. Nervous eh?
4:22 - Do I watch on NBC or BBC????????? I don't know what to do. I'm cracking already. I'm sleepy. And I'm drinking a groddy juice cleanse. On the bright side, my breakfast is probably better than Kate's. Wonder how long it took Wills to get dressed.
4:24 - Mr. Woo is awake. Is he going to watch too? No. He says he's going to work. He's yell whispering to me. He's such a boss. He says watch NBC or E! cause they have a fancy Royal Wedding clock. He's got a point.

2 Minute Whole Wheat Dry Pancake Mix
![]() |
I had a phone conversation earlier today that went something like this.
Me: Hello?
Mr. Woo: Oh, hey. Yeah, I just wanted to tell you, in the future don't tag me in pictures on Facebook.
Homemade Strawberry Syrup for Pancakes or Anything you might want to make beautiful music with.
I'm not playing around here.
This stuff is PERFECT. With a capital P-E-R-FECT. I'm tired of typing those dashy things.
It's like when you went to The Pancake House when you were a kid, and they had all those fantastic syrups at your table and you thought you were in heaven.
You remember that. . . . . . because you were.
In heaven.
I know. Because that's were this recipe came from.
An angel.
Nigella.
Only she made hers with blueberries.
I guess because strawberries weren't on sale.

While We Were Out. . . . . .
I lied.
I told a fib.
I spoke with a forked tongue.
Liar, liar. My pants are on fire.
Now my sister wants to eat my curds and whey.
All because I didn't send her the spring break pictures that I took 1 1/2 months ago.
Sorry Sissy.
But you knew all along how I am.
I really can't be trusted.

Zucchini Fries
Warwick: Your toenails look really pretty.
Me: Thanks.
Warwick: No, I mean it. They look really nice.
Me: Oh. Um. Er. Thanks. You bought the polish.
Warwick: I did?
Me: When we were in college. In 1998.
Smiling, I think because his hasty purchase has lasted so long.
Warwick: Oh, that must be why I like it so much.
Me: Maybe. But you bought the wrong color.

Chicken Lo Mein (Better than China Express Down the Street)
Sometimes during the day I don't do what I'm supposed to.
I don't wash the dishes. Or clean the floor. Or pick up toys. Sometimes instead . . . . I blog.
I love to blog.
I love to write down all the crazy thoughts that go on in my head that scare me sometimes.
And probably scare you too. Sorry about that.
The other day I was blogging. I was very serious. Type, type, typing away.
But my kids wanted to play.
Sheesh.
But I wanted to blog.
"Calm down." I'd say.
"Quiet please, so Mommy can work."
"Mommy I need this." "Mama, mo yoosh (mommy, more juice)"
And as if I were a broken record, I'd yell "Coming. . ." Knowing full well my bum wasn't moving anytime soon.
"Mommeeeeee, Mommeeeeee. . . .play with us, dance with us. Pleeeeeaaaasssseeeeee."
Ah crap. And because I can be a selfish mommy, though knowingly, I pulled my tookus off the chair mumbling "Okay, okay."
I grabbed Soledad's hand, and then I grabbed little Phoebe's hand, and they in turn took one anothers. A nice little diddy came on the TV, and we danced and danced and giggled and danced.
They got tired and wanted to stop.
"Don't you want to dance some more?" I pleaded.
"No." Said Soledad speaking for herself and her younger sister. "We want to go do something else."
And I was totally bummed, because I had forgotten that dancing is just as fun as blogging.

Chewy Granola Bars with Apricots, Apples, Pecans and Nuts
This is my staircase.
Lovely. White. Pure.
This is the banister, that one might grab to aide them up this flight of not so treacherous stairs.
This is the little knobby white thing at the top of the railing, at the bottom of the stairs.
This . . . .

Marshmallow Rice Crispy Bars
"I made you something to bring to class. . . . . .Marshmallow Crispy Treats."
The kid raises one eyebrow, then leans in to inspect.
"Are these homemade?" she asks.
A smile rises in her mother's face. A knowing look. "Yup. They are."
Eyes aglaze, with a pink hue to her lips, her mouth begins to salivate and she shoves her younger sister aside to get just. one. whiff.
The torch has been passed.
-----x---------
I know, you know how to make these.
You know, I know how to make these.

Caramelized Onion Pizza with Queso Fresco
I feel like you should know this about me.
I suck at Lent.
As I type those words I can feel my husband twitch involuntarily, and shriek in horror. He's worried that I'm going to get struck down by lightening. It'll be alright honey. God knows, I'm not lying.
I am really, really, horrible at it. I may be the worst sacrifice maker in all of the great state of Texas.
Generally it's because I'm too aggressive.
'No sweets at all' turns into loosely allowing fruit sprinkled with sugar. Which of course begets baking it, then if your going to go through all that trouble you might as well add a crumbly topping. Before you know it I've added ice cream convincing myself its sacrilegious to eat a Fruit Crumble without something cold and creamy. And as I lick my bowl clean, in dawns on me. . . . .I've ruined Lent.

Cristina Ferrare's Big Bowl of Love by Cristina Ferrare and GIVEAWAY!!!!!!!!!
I don't want to make you jealous but. . . .
Recently, I've had two very impressive brushes with fame.
First, I went to the NCAA All-Star Game and practically got to sit on Greg Gumbel's lap.
You're probably not jealous yet.
Okay, let me try again.

Hearty Vegetable Soup with a Basil-Garlic Dressing (Pistou Soup)
It's definitely full on Spring in my lovely town of Houston.
Though, some days it feels like summer. Hot, hot, hot. And by hot I mean 84 which isn't really very hot. Only just PERFECT.
For me, this means its time to start digging in the soil, and roaming around the plant nursery in search for really wonderful FLOWERS.
Not leaves.
I'm no horticulturist.
I don't love all types of plants. Well in theory, I love all plants. Maybe. But if I'm truthful, the petalish ones have the upper hand. Basically, if they DON'T have flowers or they DON'T go in your mouth, then . . .really. . . .I'm not all that interested.
What really makes me wet me pants is Flowers and plants that you can turn into food. That's it.
If they can do double duty, well then. . . .geez. . . .I'm all hot and bothered.
So this week, Ive been planting a little bit of both.

Authentic Spanish Tortilla
If you live in a glass house, don’t throw stones.
Or if you have stones, don’t be throwing them at people in glass houses.
Or just to cover all our bases if you have a house or know someone who has even thought about having a house, don’t throw anything at it including rocks, pebbles, plastic bottles, or any paraphernalia that you may have lying about.
Thank You,
Management

I sat in the stands, with the baby between my legs playing at my feet.
Shelbi sat next to me as we watched Bella's softball game.
As each of Bella's team mates went to bat you could hear the echoing yells of the opposing team, "Hey batter, batter, batter! Hey, batter, batter, batter! LISTEN TO ME CHATTER". On and on again. To say the least, those little boogers were ANNOYING.
